The Sleeping Kid by, "Nausica"

One time I was tired so I asked if I could go to sleep in my dad's office because there is a bed. So I went in the bed. Then before I fell asleep my mom came in and said we have to go in a few minutes. I said o.k. and she went out. Then it took me a minute to go to sleep. I fell asleep. I slept for awhile. and they left me. Everyone got in the car. They had an extra person, so they thought they had everyone. So they left. Then I woke up and went out of the room. I called everybody's names, and nobody would answer. I started to cry. I went outside. That was when I met a boy and his mom. His mom asked, "What is the matter?" Then, "Is that someone you know?" And I said, "Yes." They left. My dad came out of the car, and he said, "What is the matter?" "I looked up and said, "I called everyone's name but nobody answered and so I started to cry." We got in the car and drove to the movies.

The Great Escape by, "Ethelyn"

One day me, my mom, and Keith went to buy a new cage for the gerbils. When we got home our neighbors told us that a white mouse was running around our trashcan. It was Squeaky! We caught her and put her in the new cage. We picked it up and the bottom fell off. Squeaky got out and ran behind the lawn mower. We caught her again. The end.

Over the Log by, "Noelle"

Once we were camping. We were having a great time until we decided to go to the Hot Pots. We call it the Hot Pots because it's like a hot pot with water in it. Anyways, it was about three miles to get there. First we went over the log. It was scary so I crawled across instead. When we were walking it got dark. Good thing we brought our flashlight. When we finally got there we played in the water. Then we were ready to hike another three miles. It was darker than before. The flashlight wouldn't last much longer. There was a stream by the trail. The flashlight barely lit the way, but we got to the log. First, my older sister went over the log. Then my younger sister, my mom, and then me. I started across the log. I got to the end safely. Then my dad came. We walked a little bit more and we were at the campsite. The end.

The Kissing Story by, "Titania"

One summer day I was at my friend Indiana's house with my little brother Asher. Indiana has a little sister named Libby. Libby and Asher are friends. We were all outside in their backyard playing in the sprinklers when Asher and Libby started kissing. We tried to stop them, but they wouldn't listen. So I whispered to Indi that we should tell her mom. She said we should. So inside we went and told her mom. We came out with her and she said, "Stop!" So, they stopped and never kissed again. The end.

What Did my Sister Say? by, "Vanessa"

Me and my sister and mom were in the car. My mom said what kind of car do you want when you grow up. I said, "I want a car that the top comes off." My sister said, "I want a car that has scrapers. My mom said, "What's that?" "It's a car that has scrapers on the back." Ten minutes later my sister said, "There's my car." We looked and saw what my sister wanted. My mom said, "Those are wipers." "Oh!" said my sister. Two years later we got what my sister wanted.

Got Cut by, "Alan"

I was in the mountains with my family. We unpacked our stuff. I got my knife out and and found a stick and I went back to camp and we went down to the lake and swam. We came back, I got out my knife and got my stick and carried my stick. At first I did good then I got better. Then I got cut. It hurt really bad. My knife went deep. The date was July. I went to my camper and put water on it. I went outside and it was better. And I carved again. The end.

Broken Car Window by, "Darth Mawl"

One time I asked if my friend could play. Her mom said yes. So she came over to my house and we wanted to play catch. We were passing the ball back and forth and one time I threw it so hard that she had to duck and the ball went right to my dad's new car window. We went over to the car and the window was broken. We rolled down the window and went over to my friend's house instead of my house. We just kept playing games. Then one day my dad took us to his pizza place to drop me off. So that my cousin could pick me up. Then my dad told me to roll the window. It was not broken. It was a miracle and my dad said in a kind voice, "Why didn't you tell me that you broke my window?" "Because I was scared that you would get mad at me." "I would never get mad at you." "It was an accident. I'm sorry Dad!" "It is alright!"

Little Sister Making a Mess by, "Layla"

My mom and I were sitting on the couch watching t.v. Then all of the sudden I heard a noise. It was my little sister making a mess. Then I got up to see what she was doing. She was making a big mess! So I told on her. My mom got up and sent my sister to her room. The end.

The Cat Ran Away by, "Sunny Browser"

It was a normal day as usual. Then my dad came home. There was a particular cat that I never saw before. I knew that I was going to like it really fast. And I did. The same day I got that cat, we were playing with the cat, we put him in some tubes. We left him there. He escaped in the night. We never saw him again. We started looking for him. We looked until the afternoon when we knew he was gone.

The Brownie Story by"Emily"

One Saturday my aunt came over and before she came over the other night my dad and I baked brownies. So when she came over I asked her if she wanted one and she said yes. So I went and got her one. When I came back I gave it to her and it fell on her shirt. I laughed. So when it fell on Missy's shirt my baby sister Ingrid picked it up and ate it. We all thought it was pretty funny. The end.

Enoch's Accident by, "Elise"

When I was four my mom was changing my brother's diaper. Then my brother peed and pooped on my mom. Wow! My mom had to get new pants. She had to throw the other ones away. My mom was angry.

Miss Singley's Class was given the challenge of writing some interesting "leads." Here are a few:

by, "Susan Brook"
Have you ever touched the branches of a really high tree without using a ladder? I have. I've used my trampoline to do it every time. It is fifteen feet wide and it has a net around it!

by, "Kamakana"
Bep! I have to jump off the block! I have to swim my best when I swim freestyle because everyone is really good, but they can't beat me. Some people even give up because I'm so fast. Then I win!

I'm on the swim team. It's a little hard, but it gets easier once you know what to do. You get to swim in meets and stuff. Most of the time it's ribbons they give out. Every meet I've been in I've gotten at least one first place ribbon. I usually do two events. I might even go out of Utah some time.

I Cut my Chin Open by "Nichole"

One day I was jumping on my mom and dad's bed. I wanted to touch the fan.

When I stand on the bed now, I can touch it, but when I was 5, I couldn't.

I got too close to the edge. Then I slipped and split my chin open.

My mom took me to the doctor's office. I got stitches. My mom almost fainted.

T-Rex by "Stien"

T-rex are awesome. They kill and eat meat. Their teeth are more than 9 inches. Wowee! I really want those teeth! I really want to eat 500 pounds of meat and bones in one bite like a T-rex!

Dogs by "Mark"

My subject is dogs. First, I love it when I take them on a walk. Second, I love it when I chase them. Third, I love it when the dogs are really tired because you can pick them up, then put them on your bed. Then you can sleep with them.

My Summer by "Jam"

I went swimming at a party. It had a hot tub close to a waterfall that you can dive off of. There was also a slide and tubes that you can ride down. Also, it had motorcycle-like things. It had stuff for the taller and littler kids. There was a canoe, but we could not even touch it. But the party was still fun.

My Summer by "LaMoine"

I had a great summer. First we went to Bryce Canyon. We stayed there for about a week. When we were looking at the canyon, it seemed like a lot of skyscrapers around us.

Next, we went to our cousins house. We did lots of stuff there. We ate hot dogs for dinner, played croquet, played in a tent, acted like we were a giant's pet, and lots more! It was so much fun.

My Summer by "General Devious"

The best thing that happened this summer is when I went to the airport to see my cousin. I saw my cousin come home from his mission. He went across the world to go on his mission. I missed my cousin so much that when he came back I ran and jumped on him. Then we went to the Spaghetti Factory. I sat right next to him and I ate spaghetti. I love spaghetti.

On Sunday we went up to his house and we had the best party I have ever been to in my life. Then we went to a movie and saw Star Wars the Clone Wars.

Then we went to my grandma's house and we had a party. I played with the bunnies. My grandma's has 50 bunnies. My favorite bunnies are . . . let's just say that I don't know all their names . . . but I do know Summer, Molly, and Buddy.

My Summer by "Monkey"

I had a stupendously excitingly awesomely cool summer. It all started as a big surprise on a very hot Sunday. It was about 4:00 a.m. My parents were picking me, my sister Angela, and my brothers Isaac and James up from my grandma's house. When we woke up, we noticed we were in the car, and we weren't in Payson, Utah anymore. My mother told us were going to Las Vegas airport to get on a plane to Pheonix. She said she would tell us the rest later. When we go to Las Vegas, we went to Hawaii.

It was beautiful. I felt like I was swimming under palm trees with beautiful fish. Then finally, I got to see the kind face of my grandfather which I hadn't seen in four years. The happiness went to the next morning. We had lots of adventures such as swimming far into the ocean, eating hot malasadas, taking pictures of lizards, looking at stars on the roof, and the best part was having a gecko stick to the window. Ha! Ha! Ha!

We also went to a place called Germaine's Luau. We went to Hanauma Bay, and went snorkeling with fish. Boo ya! Oh no. It's time to go home now!

The rest of my summer was boring old days of playing with my friends. ALOHA!

3 Days Down, 177 to Go!

We made through our first partial week! The kids are just as cute and fun as I had hoped. As soon as we get our super-hero names, we'll post some summer adventures!
